We have successfully raised £8,140 for charity by taking part in the Will Aid scheme where we have prepared Wills for clients and asked them only to consider making a donation to charity.
Anna Rzemieniecka from the British Red Cross paid us a visit last week to present us with a certificate and to let us know how the money raised will be spent.
Robert Cartmell and colleagues here at Cartmell & Co wrote over 80 Wills during the month of November, generously giving their time for free for the whole month. Will Aid, now in its 27th year, is a charity scheme that raises money for nine charities: ActionAid, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, Save The Children, Sightsavers, Age UK, SCIAF (Scotland) and Trocaire (Northern Ireland). The money raised is spent helping vulnerable people here in the UK and abroad.
As well as raising funds for the Will Aid charities, the scheme helps to ensure that people in this area have a professionally drawn up Will. A Will is a vital document for every adult no matter their age. Not only does it ensure that a person’s money and possessions are distributed as they wish but it means that they have a say in who looks after any children they may have if something should happen to them before those children reach 18.
Robert Cartmell, Director and Solicitor at Cartmell & Co said:
“We were delighted to once again take part in the Will Aid programme. It allows people the opportunity of taking specialist estate planning and Wills advice from a firm of Solicitors without charge to them and then to receive a will that meets with their needs and wishes, whilst making a donation to the charitable causes that Will Aid supports. We will absolutely be taking part in Will Aid again next year!”
